Delta State University is gearing up for the Student Government Association’s 2025 election. Each spring semester, an election is held for the roles of president, vice president, secretary and treasurer, attorney general, and chief justice.
Candidates for each position will be voted for starting on March 31, and ending on April 1. Voting will be held through the Statesman Life Canvas shell under the module “2025-2026 SGA Executive Cabinet Elections.” This module is an ungraded quiz in which each question is used to vote for each individual position. The different candidates will each be listed as an answer to the question, and the voter picks their favorite based on the candidate’s platform, ideas, and values. Once each question is answered, voters click “submit” and their votes are in to be counted. Each student may only submit the form once, and it may not be submitted after April 1.
The SGA Presidential position is between candidates Hayden Kirkhart (current SGA President) and Cielee Hollon (current Chief Justice). Kirkhart states in her campaign, “I want to work alongside you to celebrate our achievements and build an even stronger, more inclusive Delta State.” Kirkhart has promised to advocate for improvements to Forest E. Wyatt Fitness Center, student discounts with businesses around Cleveland, Roberts LaForge Library printing credits, and more.

Hollon writes in her campaign post, “Hollon for President— As this decade’s first Asian President, bringing a fresh vision and leadership that reflects the diverse spirit of our community.” Hollon is advocating for an inclusive and unified environment amongst Delta State University and hopes to cement herself as the first Asian President of the decade, a great marker in DSU history.
The Vice-Presidential race is between two candidates, Evelyn Greer and Jamaal Bryant. Greer is running alongside Kirkhart, while Bryant has partnered with Chief Justice Hollon. Greer is a three-year Student Senator and President of the African American Student Council, who Kirkhart claims “has been a dedicated servant leader since she stepped on Delta State’s campus.”
Bryant is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Omicron Psi chapter. He campaigns, “Bryant for Vice President— As your first African American Vice President in this decade, committed to fostering unity, inclusivity, and making a lasting impact.” Either candidate will be cementing themselves as the decade’s first African American Vice President.

Emma Claire Haley (current SGA Director of Athletic Affairs) and Emarious Graham (Kappa Sigma) are both campaigning for the position of Chief Justice for the 2025-2026 year, while the position of Attorney General has only one candidate, Brady Rohelm (current Director of the Big Green Event).
The position of Secretary and Treasurer currently has no candidates vying for its title, and the SGA is seeking individuals who are interested in the position. For more information, email sga@deltastate.edu.
The Delta Statement will continue to cover the election, candidates, and campaign events as voting unfolds.
