Kisses for St. Jude

Tri Deltas working the “Kissing Both” on Valentines Day

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, the Delta State Chapter of Tri Delta hosted a fundraiser for St. Jude. “Kisses for St. Jude” took place in in the H.L. Nowell Union, where The Delta Statement talked to Kaitlyn Bryant, a member of Tri Delta, to get the scoop on this fundraiser.

Bryant has been a member of Tri Delta for a year now and is the Risk Management Officer for the chapter. This year, they sold bags of Hershey’s Kisses in order to raise money for St. Jude. This particular event is new, and according to Bryant, went over very well. She also told The Delta Statement that St. Jude is Tri Delta’s philanthropy and that they put on similar events to this one every year in order to raise money for St. Jude.

Each member of the sorority took an hour or more at the table throughout last week selling kisses.

Bryant reported that all the proceeds go directly to St. Jude: “Our chapter bought the kisses. None of the money that we used to buy the kisses gets taken out of what we fundraise.”

Tri Deltas from campuses all across the nation raise money for St. Jude. Bryant said that their national goal is to raise 10 million dollars in 10 years for St. Jude. This is the largest organization commitment to St. Jude, and Tri Delta is one of the biggest contributors to the organization. Because of this relationship that Tri Delta has with St. Jude, many of the members have done internships and externships with them.

Don’t fret if you missed out on Kisses for St. Jude; there will be another event to support St. Jude, Delta Desserts, coming later in the semester. Tickets for Delta Desserts will be sold soon and are usually $5-$10. Students who want to get involved can buy tickets to any fundraiser that Tri Delta hosts or donate directly to St. Jude.
