The Grand Ole Opry held a concert Jan. 19, 2024, to honor the 78th birthday of famed Country singer and songwriter Dolly Parton. Elle King was featured alongside other artists such as Tigirlily Gold and Ashley Monroe.
King, famous for her bluesy, raspy singing style–as well as being the daughter of actor Rob Schneider, was self-reportedly highly inebriated and “Fucking, Hammered” at the event.
Many country music fans took to social media to “call out” King for not only what they felt was a disrespectful attitude toward Parton but also her use of strong language. Parents cited feeling disappointed, one mother even said she had to leave the show due to King’s language.
Tiktoks also surfaced showing King saying: “Be honest, y’all paid money for this shit?”
Tiktoker Country Minute provided another camera angle with more of King’s slurred speech.
Country fans also pointed to her California upbringing. Tiktoker Ann[i]e called King a “Heaping rotten pile of nepo garbage”
Twitter(X) users also expressed their displeasure. One user (@chitownguy) posted “You are a Disgusting POS!🖕🤡🐷 the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree #RobSchneider”
Another user by the name of MakeupByDesign posted “Elle King disgraced one of the biggest legends of not just country, but the world. How dare you. #Mess.”
While Parton’s younger sister Stella, was alleged to have “Slammed” King in a response, there has yet to be any evidence showing a conclusive response to the debacle. King has also yet to make a statement at this time.
