Skylar Andrews, also known as Sky or Skylar Alexis, is a junior at Delta State University where she is pursuing a degree in English Education with a minor in psychology. A native of Richland, Mississippi, Skylar transferred to Delta State after graduating from Jones County Junior College in 2019 with plans to become an English teacher. With an obvious passion for education and a heart for teaching, Skylar says that she “would love to impact young lives as my teachers did throughout my high school journey.” While Skylar is devoted to her work within the classroom, she also finds time to be involved around campus. She is a member of the Student Senate and Phi Mu Fraternity where she serves on the Executive Council as the Panhellenic Delegate and the Academic Excellence Chairman. While the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted students across the globe, Skylar has remained an attentive, organized, and motivated student, but most importantly, she has kept her bubbly and positive personality intact. Although Skylar’s school work is of the utmost importance to her, she never forgets the value that can be found in a spontaneous moment. She says, “I like to take on wild adventures!” In fact, the next time you glance up at the sky, you may just find Skylar soaring through the air on a sky diving excursion, something that she describes as “absolutely breathtaking!”
